The host team’s afternoon was utterly derailed by three second-half yellow cards, but the defending Premiership Champions simply improved. The Saints were particularly troubled by Freddie Steward, who scored a hat trick and was immaculate beneath the high ball for the whole 80 minutes.
Dan Biggar stopped a certain Tigers attempt during all of this activity with a tackle that is already a front-runner for the season’s best.
Gopperth appeared to be in for Leicester’s first try, but the Wales 10 displayed excellent speed, amazing rugby judgment, and agility to not only get in position to make the tackle but also to knock the ball out of Gopperth’s arm.
Everyone loves a good try saver
