Jamie George, a Saracens and England teammate has hailed Owen Farrell as one of the all-time greats and says he doesn’t understand the criticism directed at the fly-half.
Farrell was the star performer in Saracens’ overwhelming victory against Exeter on Sunday, and he appears to have recovered after a lengthy layoff due to two ankle procedures. Indeed, Farrell was making only his fourth appearance for Saracens since October, but he is regaining the form that had eluded him for much of the previous season, as well as the British & Irish Lions’ trip to South Africa last summer.
His performance has been questioned, and England captain Eddie Jones has given Farrell no assurances of a return to the group for the summer tour to Australia. George, on the other hand, is convinced of the 30-year-ability old’s value to Saracens, who qualified for the playoffs in their first season back in the top division with a bonus-point win over Exeter.

Jamie Gorge stated:
“He is one of the best players that has ever played the game,”
“Some of the criticism he gets, I can never get my head around. Come down to Saracens every week and watch him play, he is the very reason why we have won as much as we have. Can you imagine playing with him?”

Given England’s two wins in the Six Nations, Farrell’s absence was felt acutely, and it seems unlikely that he will not go to Australia if his present form continues. While England suffered as a result of his absence, George stated that Farrell was still playing a significant role at Saracens.
“He turned into our head coach, he is that good,”
“He is so, so important to this team and he offers so much on and off the field. With his voice, with his actions, in the week the way he prepares, he shows people how it is done. I can’t speak highly enough of him. He is the best player I have worked with in every facet of the game.”
