Fabien Galthie brings back Damian Penaud and Romain Taofifenua

by Saba Gulmagarashvili

The wing of a star Damian Penaud is back in the France XV for the Six Nations final against England after recovering from Covid-19.

Les Bleus are aiming for the Grand Slam, and head coach Fabien Galthie has mostly stuck with the team that beat Wales last weekend.

Yoram Moefana, who has been impressive throughout the campaign, is left out. Galthie opts for a six-two split to face England’s pack, which performed well against Ireland after he is fully pulled from the squad due to injury.

The imposing lock also returns

In order to match their opponents’ strength, the French are glad to welcome back Romain Taofifenua, another player who has been affected by Covid, who will take his place among the replacements.

Melvyn Jaminet provides a dead-eye boot and counter-attacking danger from full-back, and it’s more of the same elsewhere.

Jonathan Danty and Gael Fickou have created a strong and well-balanced partnership in the center, but Antoine Dupont and Romain Ntamack will be expected to contribute more. While Dupont has flashed his brilliance on occasion, Ntamack has struggled to deliver consistently.

Up front, there have been few issues, with the pack proving to be a well-oiled machine. In the France back-row, Gregory Alldritt has rediscovered his finest form, and he is joined by Anthony Jelonch and Francois Cros.

Paul Willemse has had a fantastic Six Nations season, and he and outstanding youngster Cameron Woki have been a potent engine room duo.

Cyril Baille and Julien Marchand are both contenders for player of the tournament in the front row, with Uini Atonio rounding out the XV.
