Maro Itoje, England’s lock, was sick overnight, but scrum coach Matt Proudfoot is “really optimistic” that he will be able to play against Ireland in the Six Nations on Saturday.
After the second row became ill overnight, it was decided to keep him at the squad’s Pennyhill Park base rather than have him practice with the rest of the squad ahead of the game.

When asked if Itoje would still play for England this week scrum coach Proudfoot answered:
“He was a little bit sick overnight so we are giving him an opportunity to recover, just cautious today with him but we are really optimistic he will be fine tomorrow,”
