Owen Farrell, the England captain, has been ruled out of Saracens’ trip to Sale after failing to recuperate from a concussion suffered against Bristol last weekend.

Last weekend, the England captain returned from a four-month injury layoff to lead Saracens to a tight victory over Bristol.

Sarries have now revealed that he had a head injury late in the game and has yet to pass the return-to-play regulations.

Instead, England hooker Jamie George will captain Saracens at Sale.

It’s the latest blow for Farrell, who has had a hit-or-miss season so far.
